Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 4 is going ahead with the IPL parties and even the IPL Fashion Shows, which was just a sham to show bare legs to frustrated and deprived guys who bought Rs. 50K tickets to watch the match and follow it up with a party and a leg-show.
BCCI banned the IPL Parties but now as per sources, Vijay Mallya is doing the parties under his company banner and to beat the BCCI’s stipulation,
the parties are only for invitees and players aren’t coerced to attend. But it’s without doubt that Royal Challengers will have to be there because it’s their team-owners bash.
Besides the parties, fashion shows will be held yet again to titillate the guests but after IPL 3 fashion shows managed and organised by Mehr and Arjun Rampal where the shows were only for voyeuristic pleasures (As fashionscandal.com exposed it then), no good designers are willing to participate. Last season Rampals got Rs.15 Crore from buddy and tainted former IPL Chairman, Lalit Modi to host the shows but Mehr got most of the designers for free. This season Prasad Bidappa, Mallya’s old loyalist is doing the shows.

Bidappa called up many designers to participate in these shows at IPL 4 but most asked to be paid but Bidappa said that funds aren’t there so he can’t pay them but assured great publicity. But designers after last years debacle turned down the offer. The only designer who has agreed to show is Samant Chauhan.
Tanisha Mohan, a permanent feature at fashion weeks was seen clicking pictures of designer’s collection from her ‘must-have’ by hook or by crook front row seat. Yeah, at Men’s Week too, she sat on Vineet Jain, the MD of Times of India’s seat.
Wonder why she was capturing the images from the ramp? Would you know why? Here’s a picture, which I am fictionalising and captioning: “Amol Vadehra seems to be asking Tanisha Mohan why she’s been taking pictures at the shows.” Now I want you guys to suggest me some witty answers to the question in the caption. Would you suggest some?
My answers are:
Tanisha: Amol you know I have few unfortunate fraands who haven’t seen shows and they keep begging, ‘Tashu tu toh every show mein Front Row mein sit karti hai. Kyon nahi U take some photos for us please”. I pity them and do it for them yaar.
OR
Tanisha: Amol you know nah how dumb these reporters are? After every show they run after me to find out my opinion on the show. My opinion is soooo important to them so I help these poor guys and after seeing shows after shows, I lose track and then these pictures come handy.
By the way, if you didn’t know this…Tanisha once tried to become the Guest Contributor for ‘Hello’ magazine and her argument was that she knows Delhi’s biggest hot-shots and can definitely do much better than the existing Guest Contributor of Hello. The Guest Contributor referred to is a respected columnist cum TV Anchor and hails from one of the most respected and sophisticated families of Delhi
I was the first one to draw the your attention to the much-hyped fashion shows at IPL Nights. I told you it was just an excuse to show tits & legs to the lecherous cricketers and provide entertainment to money-bags who buy 40k tickets for a game. Read my post of March 19, 2010 (IPL Nights Fashions Shows are an Insult to Fashion @ fashionscandal.com/?p=81). Yesterday HT City came out with the same story:
First it was Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna. Next was Abhishek Gupta & Nandita Basu and most recently, it was Namrata Joshipura, who unlike the other two, expressed her angst about the sleaze show disguised as fashion show. Read my second post on it dated 30th March, 2010 (IPL NIghts is all about Sex & Drugs @ http://fashionscandal.com/?p=133). Namrata poured her anger on the Facebook as her status. No sooner the word spread, Mehr Rampal called up Joshipura saying she was upset about her Facebook Status. Namrata, not the one to cow down answered back, “Forget you being upset, I am more upset with that crap – the sleaze show that is passed off as a fashion show.” Later Arjun Rampal called up Rohit Gandhi asking him if he can pursue Namrata Joshipura to take off her outburst on IPL sleaze show from the Facebook.
Dear designers, if you are doing the shows for IPL Nights, I sincerely think you should pull out, until and unless you getting paid for it. It is a tasteless tamasha where fashion is just an excuse to show legs and tits. Any self-respecting designer wouldn’t like a mockery of his work and IPL Nights are nothing but a mockery of fashion.
Yeah, if you are making the bucks, then I would say – Chalta hai. Otherwise it’s a tasteless tamasha!
