Did you know Louis Vuitton made wheelchairs? Well I didn’t.
I was rather shocked to see the images of pop-star Lady Gaga on a LV wheelchair in Chicago the past week. Gaga has been confined to a wheelchair since February this year, when she suffered a labral tear in her hip that caused her to abandon the remaining U.S. dates of her Born This Way Ball tour.
By the way Lady Gaga earlier spun around in a custom 24-carat-gold Mordekai wheelchair designed by Ken Borochov.
Woh…I am amazed by things celebrities do to stand-out and how the luxury brands are there to cater to all their needs. I am sure next time a Bollywood star breaks a leg or a hip, he/she will not be caught dead in a regular wheelchair or crutches!
Lady GaGa makes news with her music and her clothes. But in Rio she made news minus the clothes or the music!

GaGa while enjoying coconut water early morning at her hotel room balcony was rather overjoyed to see tons of her fans below. In that joy she dropped her towel that covered her boobs. But she had the coconut to save some modesty and just give a ‘peek-a-boo(b) frame to the paparazzi. Well topless ain’t no big-deal Lady GaGa. What’s big is that you donated a million dollars for victims of Sandy that stormed into New York and New Jersey. Kudos to that!
Stars from the ‘Music World’ have been the favourite with Fashion Designers when it comes to be their Muse. We have seen Pete Doherty being idolised by Heidi Slimane of Dior, Amy Winehouse’s Beehive Hairdo inspiring Karl Lagerfeld and most recently Lady Gaga almost resurrecting the forgotten label – Theirry Mugler.
David Bowie the Rockstar with the famous Mullet seems like the Fashion’s Muse for the year 2012. The January 2012 issue of Vogue, Germany shot by another Rocker – Bryan Adams - completely nails Bowie’s glamrock sensibility. Daphne Guinness is almost unrecognisable in a red mullet, glam makeup and gold sequins, the typically goth socialite in a David Bowie-inspired editorial.

It was Kate Moss who channelled Bowie on the cover of Vogue Paris’s 2011 music issue. In the May 2011 issue of Numero, model Edita Vilkeviciute did her best impression of David Bowie, sporting lightning bolt face makeup for the shoot. Even Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2012 campaign, featuring a mullet-ed Anja Rubik is giving us Bowie vibes.
Desperate socialite Queenie Singh tried everything possible to host a bash for the visiting Celebrity Blogger Perez Hilton so as to get mentioned by Perez in his popular blog. But poor Queenie failed in her ambitious mission as Perez left India after holidaying in Rajasthan. Sources told me that Queenie desperately tried getting in touch with Perez Hilton by calling the Lake Palace Hotel in Udaipur but without luck.

Queenie’s shrewd formula of hosting bashes for visiting international celebrities to get to know them worked successfully earlier. She hosted lavish parties for revered fashion editrix, Suzy Menkes, Naomi Campbell and most recently Paris Hilton with the sole idea of getting on Page3 posing with the famous people and to flaunt her association with them. Gawd…things these desperate socialites do for that shallow ‘fifteen-minutes-of-fame’! Poor Queenie’s luck ran out with Perez Hilton and her dream of being mentioned on his Blog alongside the likes of Victoria Beckham and Lady Gaga crashed.
I think somebody should do a TV series on “Desperate Housewives of Mumbai and Delhi”. The TRPs would be great and there are no dearth of Desperate Housewives (like Queenie) willingly starring in them!
