Did you know Louis Vuitton made wheelchairs? Well I didn’t.
I was rather shocked to see the images of pop-star Lady Gaga on a LV wheelchair in Chicago the past week. Gaga has been confined to a wheelchair since February this year, when she suffered a labral tear in her hip that caused her to abandon the remaining U.S. dates of her Born This Way Ball tour.
By the way Lady Gaga earlier spun around in a custom 24-carat-gold Mordekai wheelchair designed by Ken Borochov.
Woh…I am amazed by things celebrities do to stand-out and how the luxury brands are there to cater to all their needs. I am sure next time a Bollywood star breaks a leg or a hip, he/she will not be caught dead in a regular wheelchair or crutches!
Top designer Marc Jacobs who is the Creative Director of Louis Vuittton was in Delhi for a fleeting visit. He stayed at The Oberoi and managed to keep his visit totally quiet.
However fashionscandal.com always manages to get to you these hush-hush news!
The purpose of Jacobs visit to Delhi was not known. Got to wait till he comes out with his new collection for LV and his personal label – Marc by Marc Jacobs to see any ‘Indian Influence’ in them.
JP Singh, the head-to-toe branded Surdy who is nowadays more famous, rather infamous for being incriminated in the notorious MCI scam is back to what he does best – showing off his moolah power with crass consumption.
But JP seems to have diluted his loyalty to Louis Vuitton and moved on to Armani. Reason though has got to do more with Armani’s sales girl, Lipika than the merchandise. Recently JP spent a whopping Rs. 15 lacs shopping at the Armani store at DLF Emporio and in return the outgoing salesgirl doesn’t mind being JP’s arm-kandy. In fact JP has got Armani a new customer, his friend Pawan Vora, who courtesy his Guthka money is also a big-spender. Atul Midha should really promote this girl Lipika for getting good sales. I don’t know if it is Armani’s new sales strategy – to lure in customers with a perk thrown in as a dinner date with the sales girl. I spotted JP and Lipika at 360 degrees at The Oberoi having a cozy dinner!
In fact Pawan Vora, JP’s pal had the luxury of celebrating his birthday, cutting cake and popping champagne within the Armani store at Emporio. I doubt if many have had this privilege at Armani stores worldwide. Way to Go, huh!
The Turner prize-winning sculptor Anish Kapoor is having his first ever exhibition in his native India. Oh yes this treat to us comes from none other than Louis Vuitton! Anish is a legend. His exhibition last year at the Royal Academy in London was the most successful ever for a living artist, attracting more than 260,000 visitors. Although Kapoor has created gigantic pieces all over the world and site work will begin this week for his Orbit 115m spiral tower at the London 2012 Olympics site, he has only had a temporary installation of one outdoor piece in India.
One of the most spectacular pieces from the Royal Academy show, a cannon that fires large blocks of wax into a corner of the gallery, gradually producing a slaughterhouse scene of blood red splodges, is among those being installed in Delhi where the exhibition will open at the end of November. It then opens in Mumbai, Anish Kapoor’s birth place.
In Mumbai the exhibition will take over an entire Bollywood film studio, while in Delhi it is at the New Wing of the National Gallery of Modern Arts. But guess what? NGMA has to widen the entrance to bring in Anish Kapoor’s mammoth pieces.
Guys this Exhibition is a must-see and is a lifetime opportunity!
I am not joking. There will be special edition Louis Vuitton Saris designed by Marc Jacobs available as LV celebrates Diwali across the world. This is LVs way to thank India for being a great market for its luxury goods.
LV has commissioned art curator Rajeev Sethi to do the LV window based on Diwali. From Buenos Aires to Beijing and Delhi to Dubai, all LV Store Windows will be decked up in Diwali theme designed by Sethi. It’s for the first time ever LV is doing a festival themed window apart from Christmas and new Year. And mind you, this Diwali Window isn’t just for LV stores in India. All LV Stores in the world will have the Diwali Window. Wonder how Beijing gonna take this ‘Indianisation’.
Any yes Marc Jacob designed LV Saris are also in the offering.
