Tom Cruise’s W spread shot by Mario Sorrenti has just been released. The photo-shoot portrays Cruise as an aging rock god, a character he is playing for his upcoming role in the big screen adaptation of Rock of Ages, getting wasted in a dingy hotel room with groupies portrayed by models Abbey Lee Kershaw and Edita Vilkeviciute, each looking equally wasted and competing with Cruise for most nip-slips per shot.
Regarding the nearly 50-year-old Cruise’s Rock of Ages get-up, W‘s Lynn Herschberg writes, “If he didn’t approach the role with sincerity and intensity, Cruise could easily look like a joke.” Guess we’ll have to see the movie to judge Cruises’s believability for ourselves. And that nipple tattoo? Thank god it’s temporary.

The Pirelli calendar–otherwise known as the classiest pin-up girly calendar ever–is an annual tradition for those lucky few VIPs who find it in their mailboxes. It’s traditionally shot by world-renowned fashion photographers (Karl Lagerfeld last year, Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Weber, Terry Richardson…the list goes on and on) and features A-list models and actresses.
First of all, the calendar was shot in Corsica by Mario Sorrenti, who was in attendance and who is exceptionally easy on the eyes (he’s a former model). Second of all, every single model in the calendar is as naked as the day she was born. Suffice it to say there was a lot of glistening flesh.
Here are the ladies who the lucky recipients will get to ogle in 2012: Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly, Saskia de Brauw, Lara Stone, Joan Smalls, Guinevere Van Seenus, Malgosia, Edita Vilkevicute, Kate Moss, Milla Jovovich, Margareth Made, and Rinko Kikuchi.
Shockingly, because Pirelli is an Italian company, Sorrenti is the first Italian to ever shoot the calendar. But he’s well-known for his prowess shooting tasteful nudes, so this was a natural fit for him. In an interview Sorrenti said, “I always thought about taking clothes off as a way of getting closer to the individual and the person, and of getting something that was more honest and pure.”
