Tom Cruise’s W spread shot by Mario Sorrenti has just been released. The photo-shoot portrays Cruise as an aging rock god, a character he is playing for his upcoming role in the big screen adaptation of Rock of Ages, getting wasted in a dingy hotel room with groupies portrayed by models Abbey Lee Kershaw and Edita Vilkeviciute, each looking equally wasted and competing with Cruise for most nip-slips per shot.
Regarding the nearly 50-year-old Cruise’s Rock of Ages get-up, W‘s Lynn Herschberg writes, “If he didn’t approach the role with sincerity and intensity, Cruise could easily look like a joke.” Guess we’ll have to see the movie to judge Cruises’s believability for ourselves. And that nipple tattoo? Thank god it’s temporary.

Sonam Kapoor has an agenda for the fashion industry or what? Or why else is she hopping from Paris to London to Milan to catch the Autumn-Winter 2012/13 showings at the fashion weeks? I know she has all the time as she got no movies to do but globetrotting and catching all the fashion weeks seems like the trait of a fashion addict.
Sonam should try for a job with a fashion glossy. I don’t know if any would be keen to hire her as her knowledge on fashion is questionable. Wearing expensive labels doesn’t necessarily make you a fashion pro. My one-time chit-chat with her exposed her as she gaffed about Japanese labels like Comme des Garçons and it’s designer Rei Kawakubo.
But yes I discovered from reliable sources that Sonam Kapoor is not invited by Cavalli or Gabbana to attend their shows. In fact she sends an E-mail request, which is like her resume to the fashion houses to secure an invitation. The E-mail talks about her filmography (a list of flop Bollywood movies) and also Papa – Anil Kapoor’s Slumdog Millionaire claim-to-fame. There are attachments of her snaps with Tom Cruise and of editorial shoots that she had done for Indian edition of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and other fashion glossies. I guess that is enough of hard-sell by Sonam Kapoor to receive an invitation to the front-row. Once at the show she manages to get a picture clicked with the designer and immediately post it on Twitter for Desi media to clamour for it.
Usually Sunday Nights are Dead Nights as the party-hearties recuperate from Saturday Night Madness and then there was the high-profile bash of Anil Kapoor’s for Tom Cruise. But tonight – the Sunday Night will keep the chatterati, gliteratti and fashionistas busy.
Mercedes-Benz World Catwalk, a new program by the luxury car maker is kicking off from India tonight where 4 London Designers and Indian Designer-duo showcase their work. Mercedes-Benz World Catwalk will travel 
globally to connect fashion across boundaries. Rohit Gandhi+Rahul Khanna, the Indian design team should encash on this global exposure. The four London designers are regulars at London Fashion Week and couple of them are great talents. Issa, Felder Felder, Mark Fast and Todd Lynn will showcase key looks from their Spring/Summer 2012 Coleections and so would our Rohit Gandhi+Rahul Khanna at Taj Landsend.
Now the fact that Anil Kapoor hosted an exclusive bash at the Taj Rooftop for Tom Cruise is common knowledge. But what I got to know may not be. Apparently Sonam Kapoor, who had a big say in who to have on the guest-list was dead against Queenie being on it. Remember how Queenie complained to Sonam’s Mom when Sonam made a nasty remark about Queenie’s cosmetic-surgery addiction on Koffee with Karan? Well that did not go down well with Sonam as mommy made her say ‘Sorry’ to Queenie aunty. Did Queenie manages to sneak in to this high-profile bash??? Any news guys???
