I found the Vogue Paris 2011 Calendar more interesting than the Pirelli Calendar shot by Karl Lagerfeld. However the sad bit is, the French Vogue Editor, Carine Roitfeld is quitting after 10 years at the end of the month.
Many debated if Carine’s bigger than Anna Wintour or vice-versa. In fact when rumours of Wintour quitting were ripe, it was Carine Roitfeld who was tipped-off to be the Editor-in Chief of the American Vogue. But whatever fashion gurus might say, I found fashion spreads in the French Vogue any day more interesting than any other Vogue.
Jonathan Newhouse – CEO of Conde Nast International, who publish Vogue – said: “It is impossible to overstate Carine’s powerful contribution to Vogue and to the fields of fashion and magazine publishing. Under her direction, Vogue Paris received record levels of circulation and advertising and editorial success. Vogue Paris has established itself as one of the most iconic magazines in the world, with huge influence in the field of fashion and photography. Carine herself has become widely known as a beacon of style, fulfilling the role with charm and graciousness. She has become a giant in her profession. Carine will be deeply missed. I am extremely grateful to her for what she has achieved.”
