Cannes 2013 is on and this year the festival will see the largest contingent from Bollywood as Cannes is celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema. Bollywood stars who have already landed at the French Riviera are Amitabh Bachchan as the 12-Day Cannes Film Festival opened with the screening of The Great Gatsby, Vidya Balan who is part of the illustrious jury, the lovely Frieda Pinto and Sonam Kapoor who is there as one of the Brand Ambassadress for L’Oreal.
Cannes Film Festival is keenly watched by fashionistas to dwell over the style quotient of divas from the celluloid. Vidya 
Balan made three appearances, all in traditional Indian wear by Sabyasachi Mukherjee – one in a maroon lehenga (I particularly loved the simple Choli bereft of any gaudy embellishment), another in a lovely ivory saree paired with a brown blouse with gold embroidery on the shoulders and a final one in a peach coloured lehenga-styled in Mughal regality for the Gatsby screening. The final look was a little OTT for me.
Big B made a couple of appearances. The sporty/safari jacket that Bachchan donned was out of place. Rest of the Gatsby team were dressed up in greys and blacks. Bachchan’s striped blue Safari jacket and white pants and shoes did not compliment his natural style. And gawd that belt at the waist was a disaster. At The Great Gatsby screening Amitabh Bachchan was again the odd one out in his shimmering BLINGY jacket. Could have gone for a Bandhgala with sober embellishment if he wanted BLING.
Sonam Kapoor please apna Nath utaar do. (No pun intended! Nath Utaarna also means losing virginity, which I am sure Sonam’s done with.) Our stylish diva too opted for an off-white saree (Anamika I think) with a lattice work full-sleeve jacket for Gatsby screening but that huge nose ring was definitely an eye sore. Another appearance in a scalloped Anamika Khanna jacket with lattice work paired over high-waist pants was chic. She was also spotted with Frieda Pinto in a black and grey ensemble was nice too but I have my reservations over wether those gold danglers went with the look.
Oh yes Mallika Sherawat too was there at The Great Gatsby screening in an yellowish-orange sleeveless gown. Thank god there wasn’t any slits or sheerness or cleavage revealing elements in her ensemble.
The ‘Desperate B-Town Gals‘ have made stripping-down a ploy to stay relevant in Bollywood. You all had seen Ameesha Patel in those garters to announce the launch of her production house’s first film. She looked hideous rather than sexy.

More and more business tycoons are going for ‘Trophy Girlfriends’ and splurging insane amounts on them. It is sort of becoming a trend with Desi Tycoons!
The most infamous tycoon and his trophy gal involves none other than Mallika Sherawat. She lives in Los Angeles for the better part of the year. Mallika Sherawat has a penthouse apartment at one of the swankiest locations in Beverly Hills The Palazzo. And Roman soaking tubs. It even has an original Picasso painting. Now does Mallika earn enough to sustain such a lifestyle? The answer is a ‘NO’. The penthouse rent is paid by a NRI Tycoon based out of London and he is the richest NRI. Not only a penthouse, Mallika’s tycoon lover pays for her publicist, stylist and shopping and also allows the Haryanvi Sex Bomb the luxury of his private jet. In return Mallika has to make herself available to her billionaire lover at his beck and call, which fortunately is not very often as the tycoon needs to be very discreet.
The other business tycoon who has been smitten by the beauty of Hyderabadi lawyer cum model cum beauty queen – Vasuka Sunkavalli is from the Capital City. He had a live-in relationship for a long time with one of Delhi’s old socialite, which unceremoniously ended last year. Then this tycoon – who is in Infrastructure business had a short stint with an Afghani beauty but that too ended soon when the tycoon met Vasuki during Indian Grand Prix last year. If you still haven’t placed the man – well all I can say is that he is more known by his nick name, which is rather ‘Mousey’!
Yet another billionaire NRI is based out of London too. This man has a penchant for trophy gals half his age. In fact all the three tycoons have trophy gals who are half their ages! The London based NRI who is in mining and more is seeing Kanika Chandok and their alleged relation has costed Ms. Kanika her marriage. I had posted about her earlier. Reema Gill now better known as actor Mallika Sherawat who has a penchant for getting herself clicked with Hollywood Biggies and then post it on Tweeter came to us (Photographer Manoj Kesharwani & I when we were with Delhi Times/TOI) for a photoshoot. It was a terrible shoot as Manoj couldn’t do magic with her thunderous thighs. The editor – Sabina Sehgal Saikia shot it down.
Later Reema Gill changed her name to Mallika Sherawat and became the Bollywood temptress courtesy numerous surgeries like breast implant, tummy tuck and god knows what else. Reema Lamba became Reema Gill after her marriage to Karan Singh Gill whom she eventually divorced. She herself was an Air Hostess.
