Monroe’s PLAYBOY Pictorial. R.I.P Hugh Hefner!

Marilyn Monroe shocked the nation with her death on August 5, 1962—after she often shocked the nation with her amazing life. The film legend was only 36 years old, but managed to leave behind a legacy that still makes her one of the biggest celebrities around. Fortunately, that legacy included plenty of amazing pics that chronicled her beauty. You haven’t seen them all, though.

The one thing you may not have seen (until now) are the photos that have made her so famous. Marilyn is easily the most famous Playmate in the history of the publication’s magazine; funny because the first issue ever published featured her photos from another shoot. The rights were bought for only $500. Oh, you didn’t know that?
