The royal baby has finally arrived! The baby was born at 4:24 pm in London.
It has been announced that Kate Middleton has given birth to a baby boy! Prince William and Duchess Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have named their newborn baby George Alexander Louis.
The new baby was born at St Mary’s hospital in London, after the expectant mum was admitted around 6.30 am on Monday, having gone into labour at Kensington Palace, where she spent the weekend with Prince William.
The baby is third in line to the throne, after grandfather Prince Charles and Prince William.
He weighed eight pounds six ounces and was delivered in the Lindo wing of the hospital at 4.24. The new mum and baby are said to be doing well. Kate was tended to during her labour by a top medical team led by the Queen’s former gynaecologist Marcus Setchell.
Prince Charles released a statement:
“Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.
Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future.”
