Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s new flagship store opened in Delhi at the One Style Mile in Mehrauli. The doors will open for the public from the 25th of August, 2026.

The huge ‘museum-like’ store has all the opulence of a typical Sabya flagship store. It’s massive, covering 26,000 square feet with 120 chandeliers, 300 paintings created by the artists from Sabyasachi Art Foundation and hundreds of carpets, mirrors, vintage textiles and decorative pieces. The store will house his fashion collection, high-end jewellery, accessories and more.

The Sabyasachi flagship store is undoubtedly magnificent. However the conversation centred around two installation pieces – a replica of a Calcutta Tramcar within which a life-size Royal Bengal Tiger roars. The tiger inside the carriage was thought to be Taxidermy work, which it is NOT but conservationist found the installation offensive. The Royal Bengal Tiger has been an intrinsic part of Sabyasachi’s design philosophy and brand imagery.

Calcutta has a profound influence in Sabyasachi’s work and which he keeps referring to. Tram was his mode of travel in his formative years. Even I romanticise the nostalgia of whatever little tram rides i have taken. Even the Tram carriage installation was thought to be an imagery of ‘Colonial Hangover’. The WOKE junta did not find the Tram and the Royal Bengal Tiger installations palatable from Sabyasachi, , an ardent advocate of Indian Art & Culture.
